I like the idea of not having to worry about some snake in the grass killing me off just for the hell of it but that's the unfortunate reality of humanity and the freedom of choice given that makes people kill on sight. its going to happen a lot unless you have a big group and good players to team up with, but i'll be playing solo so I may have to KOS to survive.

When I see someone in this kind of games I like to get close to them unnoticed, then when I get the chance ask them to raise their hands or unequip their weapons, if they're holding any. If they don't do as I told, I might shoot them or do a warning shot.

I've always avoided players not in my group as often as possible. Just a general distrust of anyone not familiar to me or not in my core group. And I've only had one positive experience where I wasn't killed or I didn't kill the other person.

When Day Z first launched as a solo title (gotta jump in the way back machine) a buddy and I could not find each other in a town and eventually we were hearing gunshots. After a bit of a time a guy came up behind me, told me to drop my gun and I decided to comply and see how it played out, I really didn't want to have to respawn and get back to looking for my buddy. Come to find out his group was looking for guys that had shot at them and almost killed their buddy. I explained our situation and one of the guys from their group found my friend and brought him over. While we were meeting up with my friend and his group, we were shot at by the guy they were looking for, I helped take the guy out and the other group met up with us and my buddy. They then escorted us to the edge of town, gave us some decent gear and supplies with the condition of leaving town. We agreed picked up the stuff and as we were leaving they said something along the lines of, "If we see you turn around or come back in to town, we will kill you on sight."

So, I prefer avoiding people the paranoia from being on either side is more annoying than not for me. I don't want to worry a guy is gonna take advantage of me helping out and I don't wanna think someone is going to play nice until my defenses are down. But if I see a player kill another player, I will make it my goal to kill that player as quickly as possible simply to avoid being their next victim.

If it moves, shoot it. Unless it's your mate or you want to make friends. Any veteran DayZ player knows that the same fresh spawn that you spare eventually is going to find a weapon and kill your ass later on down the road.

I really hope that this game allows people to be more friendly towards each other and not turn into another DayZ.
That's the whole point of survival right? You don't just straight out murder people in real life unless you are in danger.

I hope that there is not so much violence against other players here. However, my experiences are bad. I played a lot of H1Z1 and 99% I was attacked if I wanted to be friendly. I looked for 1 1/2 hours together. Where he then found a shotgun with ammo, he killed me on the spot. I took everything that I had and also looked at me as idiot. Before that he was friendly all the time, just until he had what he wanted. Since then I shoot first and then ask.

I would like to think people would be friendly but lets face it 70% of people will screw you over just for fun

Me, I'm friendly even if I die, It's a game after all, it'll break the cycle one day.

This is exactly what I do and the reason for being friendly all the time. The more people who are friendly no matter what, the less overall KoS players mess up the fun for the rest.

Few days ago i saw the very first glance of another real player before he shot me from far distance. I understand survival of the fittest completly but KOS that's just playing with dumb kids and really nothing to do with survival.

I killed someone ( wouldn't say it was a KOS he has every opitunity to kill me but missed with all shots ). As soon as I killed him I couldn't loot him (before the latest patch). The person I killed also complained for a while in the server chat thing.

I've only had a few run-ins but I've had to kill every person I've seen so far...

One ran up and stabbed me with a knife, but I had a shotgun stowed away lol. Another followed me around a long time without responding to the chat so I had to ice him out of paranoia. Another shot at me first but luckily sucked at aiming, and another I killed thinking I could loot him but couldn't. Whoops :)

Maybe when the game is a little more developed we can all be friends, but so far it's not looking good.

This point of game i don't understand people who play like KOS you not get any loot only that negative effect of your mental health. If you get some loot then i undertand but not yet, only reason why is testing how that mental health system works.

I'm on the fence in this one but after yesterday I have learnt not to itch my trigger finger.so there I was doing a supply run for the day in the experimental build for fortification when out in the distance I could see somthing that moved in a way a zombie couldn't.now dayz and many games left me with bad habbits so I snuck up to this guy and ended up emptying a clip and then killed him with my axe.after my victory I felt guilty.this player opened the chat box and hailed.no swearing no abuse he understood PvP is still part of testing but since we were the only 2 active players it was a bit redundant.so afterward we settled and left my sadistic past behind.the man i killed became my new ally.we built up the house I was barricading which took little time with the 2 of us and now have enough supplies and a generator running.it's a new sence of pride when you turn that generator on for the first time can't wait to continue tonight.so in conclusion it's better to befriend a stranger than it is a zombie.if only more people could be like my new friend XD.I think once there is mental fatigue on killing fellow humans it will hinder unneeded kosing.I like to say stn is a co-op game with a side dish of pvp.
