A TV news van would likely be encountered at a news outlet building or abandoned at the location of their final story. The retractable antenna mast should be usable when stationary to allow for extended radio transmissions further than a CB or home based ham radio.

Player could drive to a secluded location, extend the antenna mast and make communication at further distances. As a last resort the vehicle could be slept in and used to hold a small amount of gear and supplies.
