  • Caffeinated drinks replenish stamina
  • Log out at a sleeping bag or a bed to log back in at the same position
  • Keep your guns clean with a gun cleaning kit
  • Clean guns to improve accuracy & prevent jamming
  • get gud
  • Hold "F" to search for objects

What? No. We can't stop here. This is bat country.
The dead are attracted to lights!
Aim for the Head.
Inhale and exhale to breath. (this one is a joke :p)

A few moar

Got Wood?, Search logs in the wild using "F" for a chance to find firewood.
Check your corners!, Zombies like to hide indoors.
Better meals, means a better diet.
Avoid groups of zombies, unless you're well equipped to deal with them.
Cardio, don't run too much or you may die tired.
Double Tap, because sometimes one just isn't enough.
Travel Light, loot smart and don't get greedy.
Treat your weapon as your most prized possesion.
Ego Check, do not jokingly point a gun at anyone, including your enemy.

Asshole mode - you suddenly dont give a fuck about zombies and all their stupid noises become ultra violent and start running over millions of zombies with a lawn mower finally taking a shit on a large pile of zombies.

After I made a mistake on setting video resolutions which now mean I can't scroll down far enough to reset them, I'd like a tip on this. I can zoom the screen, but the inventory doesn't fit.
Can anyone help me out here?

If you hold ALT while clicking play on steam you can change resolutions before the game launches

EDIT: That's another tip :D

I'd like to see the return of the 'Press W to walk forward' tip, it's almost a meme in the STN community

- place cans on stoves or grills to warm them

- find a hammer (and nails) to nail planks on windows

- use a radio to talk with other survivors

- don’t go out alone

- hold shift and press F to in the inventory to place items

- your bag is too heavy? place or drop something.

- hide your weapons and items from other survivors

- don’t spend the night in a car

- search other cars for missing car parts

... i am sure i will come up with more. :)
cheers

Do we need a tutorial mode for STN to help new players get in to the game? Or is that too much?
I've found part of the fun of the game has been discovering how things work, but would some easy in game help help encourage the mass market?

Never a bad thing imo, would be nice for the option upon server entry of a new character... wouldn't give any special gear or anything just tips that appear on screen and/or some minor mini goals leading upto using the basics of fortification to understand the all-round basic stuff.

Spawn in:
Find/Use meds, basic first aid tips. (tutorial start could start with some health gone just to show how to use a bandage)
Find/make a melee weapon, tips on maintenance.
Find some drink and food, some tips on foraging.
A Goal set, that lead to a campsite area maybe.
Eat food and drink drink, basic tips on using can-opener or sharp objects and purifying water, hunting, cooking.
Find firearm (optional find ammo), tips on maintenance.
Choosing a safe spot to Survive The Night, tips on fortification, finding materials and building maintenance.

Vehicle stuff could come with it's own maybe or a vechicle maintence book could be something to find and read.

Things I learned:

- you can make a canteen out of metal scrap
- make metal scraps out of empty cans
- place full cans on a working stove, they'll pop open --> you will never find a can opener!
- go to a sink or toilet to get water for your canteen
- put the water canteen (diry) on the working stove and wait to purify the water
- don't wait too long, it will vanish

- find a machete and kill the zombies!
